Programming next half term

Now that we have covered the basics of programming and c# we can move on to build your confidence and programming skills.

When we come back after half term the programming work we will do will be more focused on solving problems rather than the mechanics of putting programs together.

We will obviously be putting programs together but you will see how we can combine programming concepts to provide solutions. You will find yourself using the same skills (and making the same mistakes!) over and over again. This will hopefully re-enforce techniques and programming styles.

What you must do is try to work things out yourself if you, get stuck you can ask for help from your teacher or your classmates. If you want further help or time, you should attend ICT/Computing workshop. Here you will be able to practice your skills and get one 2 one help on programming (or theory) problems.

The best days to go are when the Computing teachers are covering workshop:

Monday: Eric
Thursday: Eric
Friday: Eric

See your ICT/Computing dashboard for up to date information about workshop.

Homework Five: Half term revision

When we come back after half term we will have a Mega mini quiz.

This will cover all the work completed so far this year both in terms of theory:
  • 3.1.1 Hardware and Software
  • 3.1.3 Data representation
and also the programming work completed so far:
  • Naming
  • Data types
  • Variables and constants
  • Structure of a program
  • Decisions using if statements
  • loops using for loops
  • Subroutines and paramaters
You may need to copy (or print) the programs we have worked on over the last few weeks so you can review what we have done. Make sure you either do this before the end of term or use the portal (http://portal.palmers.ac.uk/) to access your user space.
